Amazing feedback from teachers and Volunteers

Theresa Metzger. CA champion, Nelson Street Girls, March 2023

I have been involved with this programme for several years. The parents and teachers of the students have seen the difference that this programme has made in their lives. They thoroughly enjoy our sessions which allow them to have fun. There is a decrease in the anger and impatience in the children.

Mr. Carmichael Moolchan. Teacher I, Belmont Boy’s R.C. Primary School. January 2020

“The Alive to the World Programme was introduced to the school in the year 2018. With the implementation of the programme, a significant change in the boys’ attitude towards their academics and extra-curricular activities was observed.

The Alive to the World Programme seeks to develop the child holistically through varied learning and teaching strategies. Under the instruction of Mr. De Gannes, students are actively engaged in group activities and sessions that enhance positive team building, communication skills and problem solving strategies applicable not only to the classroom but also to real life situations.

To conclude, I would like to restate my strong recommendation for this programme.”

Ms.Ali, Class Teacher, Mucurapo Boys RC, November 2019

I firmly believe that my students enjoyed and benefited from each of the lessons because they looked forward to their facilitator coming every Monday afternoon. Their behaviour has also slightly changed for which I am grateful. They now enjoy working in teams and positively support each other. Their manner of interaction has become less aggressive as the Humility’s Virtuous Cycle states. In my capacity of being their class teacher, I myself have benefited as I use the Humility’s Virtuous Cycle as positive reinforcement.

Brent Chung, Volunteer, Mucurapo Boys RC, May 2019:

The boys are very excited and willing to participate… They are aware of the Alive to the World programme and of the virtues we have been discussing this current term… The approach of utilising the story and the sport of football resonates with the kids as most of them have been exposed to sports in the school….  The children at this time remember me and my name… And I have been able to also have a good relationship with both the head teach and the librarian… They both have continued to encourage me to continue volunteering my time as they have stressed to me the importance of my male presence for the boys….  Personally I felt this is *NOT* my calling and I really do not excitedly look forward to my Monday sessions… However I am aware that when I go to the school the fulfillment afterwards of seeing the boys not only excited but also able to repeat the and understand the virtues we discussed is very satisfying…. It is a most rewarding experience for myself.

Josephine Harewood, Volunteer, Sacred Heart Boys, May 2019:

So far it has been a good experience. The boys pay attention and there is good participation in the sessions. I am really looking forward to the next term to see the impact as we progress. The training was very informative and this would help us better next term.

Gianna Joab, Volunteer, Sacred Heart Girls, May 2019:

They can relate to the topics the most and are able to use the stories and give examples of situations that happen in their own life.
